If you look around my room at any point during the school day, most of my students are standing, laying down, sitting on buckets, or walking around the classroom while working and learning. For them, sitting in our small plastic chairs is uncomfortable. Asking my energetic students to sit for long periods of time is unrealistic. They need to be moving their bodies in a variety of ways throughout the day. This constant movement is just their body's way of naturally building core strength and balance.
Balance Balls as alternative seating will give my students the opportunity to work comfortably throughout the day while developing physically and cognitively.
