Chess is known for many benefits including improving memory, increasing creativity and critical thought, activating both sides of the brain, improving problem solving skills, reading and concentration skills, the list goes on an on! Our classroom will be using the tutorial books and chess pieces to learn all about the game. Not only will we be learning about chess but we will also be opening our classroom doors for an afternoon Chess Club, where all of the school's scholars are welcomed. Imagine all of the possibilities when chess is introduced to our 8 and 9 year old scholars. If you have ever played chess, one of the most popular board games, then you know how many skills it has the potential to develop. Our third grade scholars need the opportunity to have access to this game and the power that it holds!
