Hi, I'm Laura and I am a former public librarian and author/historian, but now I'm entering my first year teaching. I teach in an Inner-city, Title I school in Memphis, TN, Knight Road Elementary. Our students (pre-K through 5th) are very low income. The demographic at our school is approximately 60% Hispanic, 40% African American, and 100% AMAZING! These bright students have had 5 different librarians in the past 4 years. Unfortunately, the library and general morale regarding it have been seriously neglected. BUT, we are here to turn it around. My goal is to personally provide the stability craved by staying as their librarian as long as they'll have me. I am also creating a wonderful, exciting, creative learning environment to give them the Library they DESERVE! We want to start by getting our feet on the ground. We would greatly appreciate your help and thank you for taking the time to read this.
