My hard working scholars attend school in a 20-year-old building with limited resources and supplies. Our teachers work tirelessly to make the environment as welcoming and comfortable as possible. Flexible seating, including bean bags, over-sized pillows, and "wobble chairs" can serve as the solution to this problem.
A variety of seating options gives students the choice to learn and work in a way that is most physically comfortable to them. For example, a certain student or students may choose to sit in a "wobble chair" during a guided reading lesson because the extra mobility helps them to focus more. For other students, the comfort of sinking into an over-sized pillow or bean bag chair may be just what they need to get lost in their favorite book during independent reading time. Ultimately, flexible seating provides students with optimal learning conditions.
