We are requesting donations to fund the purchase of a sensory table for our classroom. The children are very curious and they love to explore materials through their sense of touch. Sand and water, birdseed and potting soil, shredded paper and magnets. The children are exposed to many math and science skills such as number relationships, sorting, weight and capacity, cause and effect, and matter and energy. By providing a space where children are free to investigate a variety of materials from their environment, we are encouraging positive attitudes toward learning like initiative, persistence, and creativity. Social skills are broadened as children have to negotiate time, space, and materials. All of these skills are skills necessary for success in life.
Any donation towards the purchase of a sensory table will improve the children's access to hands-on learning in our classroom.
Young children are sensory seeking because it is how they learn about their world. They need to have a space to safely explore. "Education is a natural process carried out by the child...acquired by experiences in the environment." ~Maria Montessori Thank you for taking the time to learn more about our classroom and project.
