Currently, my students study anatomy using slides and a few plastic models. The majority of our exams are based on the slides, but I would love to have a more genuine experience for my students using more authentic models and animal cadavers. Using the cadavers for learning and examination would give my students as close to a human cadaver experience as possible in a high school setting.
Not only will the students learn more, but they will be more excited, as they will have hands-on experience with dissection and exploration of animal anatomy. After dissection and study, I will use the cadavers for examinations. The current materials I use cover only a small fraction of what they will experience when they go to college. I want my students to be prepared and ready for the next level and I want to challenge them the way they want to be challenged. Using these dissection kits and the human skeletal model will not only challenge them, but will motivate them to learn more about human anatomy.
