Over the last several years, Kindergarten classes have increased significantly. Years ago, there were 12-15 students per class (along with an am and pm class) with 1-2 Kindergarten classes per school. Our current playground would have been sufficient for them at that time. As years have passed, our class sizes have continued to significantly increase. We just added our 5th Kindergarten teacher to our school. All five of us now have 19-20 students per teacher. Our current play structure is simply not large or safe enough by allowing 100+ students playing on it. By having the extra sports equipment along with the tricycles, our students would be able to disperse out over a much bigger area as we will have a course for them to ride on our bigger playground. The goal is to help maintain social distancing as well as have less safety concerns since they will be spread out quite a bit more. Our learning outcome will be for students to use a variety of motor skills along with developing an awareness of body movement and function.
