My school is implementing a 30-minute enrichment program every Monday for our students to explore the visual and performing arts. The paint brushes, watercolor paper, watercolors, chalk, and oil pastels will all be used during this block of time as students participate in directed art lessons. My first graders will be taught how to correctly use each medium, how to respect the materials, and how to appropriately clean up our messes after we have some fun. I also have a STEM corner in my classroom where the Legos and gears will be used. I give them an engineering challenge, such as "make a small desk that moves," and they have to build it with Legos, gears, popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners, etc. This is their inspiration corner in which they must draw a blueprint of their idea, build it, write about it, and maybe even use it for future art inspiration. I've got the space ready, now I just need to materials to implement an amazing learning experience for my learners. I can't wait to see the extra creativity and critical thinking skills that your donation will bring to our school.
