Many of my special education preschool students have gross motor delays and sensory needs. Traditional floor sitting during circle time is often difficult for them, as they lack the flexibility to sit criss-cross on a rug. We need wobble chairs, and toddler chairs for adaptive seating for use during circle time instead of traditional seating. Providing options that allow them to sit comfortably will increase the overall engagement during circle time activities. Additionally, the adaptive seating will help build the flexibility in their hips and knees over time in a comfortable manner.
All students should be provided seating that puts their body at ease while they are learning. Collaborating with specialists in my building I have researched the best seating options for my students.
