In the morning, my kindergartners look forward to morning meeting. During morning meeting, my students greet each other, participate in a group activity, and share about something they are interested in or passionate about. In order to foster a sense of community, we need a place in the room where students can come together. This ideally would be on the carpet. Additionally, we come together for read alouds and whole group mini lessons in which students participate in partner and small group activities and talks. Students need a place where they feel safe and as though they belong to part of something greater than themselves.
