Right now, my students have choice of where they want to sit around the classroom for various collaborative and independent activities daily. But, they move their chairs or sit on the floor. This practice of student choice would greatly benefit from wobble chairs, sit disks, bouncy bands, and rugs. My students are already motivated by the opportunity to move around the classroom and pick their seating arrangement, but it could be taken to a whole new level with the added seating options. Most students, not just the active ones, would benefit from the wobble chairs and sit disks. They allow them small movements, which help them to focus without distracting other students. They are easily moved around the classroom, in turn encouraging cooperative learning. For those who still want to sit on the floor, the rugs make the perfect surface for completing work, readings, or listening to presentations. One last option for students who prefer to sit in their seats would be the bouncy bands. These resources would give my students more choice, and of course, more comfort, while getting their creativity flowing!
