These materials will allow the teacher to create lessons that will engage students in learning skills that will help them to be independent in life by living on their own, building and maintaining friendships, and or acquiring a job.
These students have the potential to live and work in the community if they are exposed to life skills instruction. Life skills instruction is taught in both the school and community setting. Sadly, a school may be the only opportunity students with severe disabilities have to learn life skills. These materials will have a big impact on students gaining the skills they need to live and be productive in the community.
We need Cooking to Learn series to integrate reading and writing skills in a fun step-by-step cooking recipe. Recipes also include worksheets that are created at their grade level. The activities include in these books are real world recipes that will help students to grow in sequencing, reading comprehension, vocabulary, written language, and social skills. The CD Basic Menu Math and Cards Coins will help students to learn how to budget when ordering at at restaurant at the same time they will be practicing addition, subtraction, and estimation using money.
