Every student I teach has a desire to play an instrument. They know I give guitar lessons and many ask if I can teach them how to play. A class set of ukuleles will give all of my students the opportunity to learn to play an instrument.
Research has found that learning music facilitates learning other subjects and enhances skills that children inevitably use in other areas. 鈥淎 music-rich experience for children of singing, listening and moving is really bringing a very serious benefit to children as they progress into more formal learning,鈥 says Mary Luehrisen, executive director of the National Association of Music Merchants (NAMM) Foundation, a not-for-profit association that promotes the benefits of making music.
I want my time with my students to make this type of difference in their lives.
