My students are divided up into small groups of 4 to 5 students during small group time every day. This allows for better learning, but we are lacking in stimulating, hands-on materials that keep students engaged. My students need hands-on learning materials for literacy and math small groups.
During small groups, we focus on math and literacy skills that are essential in getting my preschool students ready for kindergarten. Having more engaging, interesting and hands-on materials will help my students grasp these important skills. These materials will also be available during center time for self-exploration after concepts have been introduced.
The materials I'm asking for support my students in the areas of Literacy and Math. In the area of Literacy, The Three Billy Goats Gruff Book and puppets, as well as the Three Little Pigs House and Storybook set, will give my students the opportunity to build vocabulary, act out and retell the two popular stories in a hands-on and stimulating manner. Also, the Alpha Catch Phonics Game is a great way for students to work on naming letters and letter sounds. It also allows them to work on their hand-eye coordination at the same time.
In the area of Math, students will work on counting in sequence, one-to-one correspondence and cardinality as they play Shelby's Snack Shack Game. Also, the bucket balance will provide a hands-on, real world approach to the concepts of heavier and lighter when comparing objects.
