Students will be able to prepare meals independently and as a group to keep their stomachs full so they are ready to learn. Often times students display behaviors due to the fact that they are hungry. By giving them the opportunity to have a healthy breakfast or snack, we are at least eliminating one barrier for them. When students have the chance to prepare meals, they will be able to practice life skills as well as social skills such as collaboration and communication. This will bring students closer together and provide them with yet another positive activity to help them stay engaged at school. We plan to do a warm breakfast with fresh fruit at least twice a week and snacks will be provided daily.
