We are currently experiencing a lockout in Chicago Public Schools due to surging Covid 19 cases in our city. Studies are showing that cloth masks are ineffective against the new variant. I want my students back in class and safe. We only offer cloth masks that get constantly wet and lost during the day. We need masks of a better grade with more protection for the students. I would love to have KN95 masks for my students to wear in the classroom and save the cloth masks for lunch/recess. I would also teach them to preserve and sanitize their mask using paper bags. Because we are unable to social distance within the classroom, having top-grade masks will help us to remain healthy and in school.
