My Kindergarten through third graders will be creating Henri Matisse inspired shapes and painting with liquid watercolor. Fourth grade through sixth will be creating desert landscapes, & seventh and eighth grade will be creating pop art portraits inspired by Roy Lichtenstein. The students will be "over the moon' to see new art supplies and to get to use easels at each of their desks .
Your donations will mean so much to my inner city students that look so forward to art each day and will be ecstatic to use brand new supplies! It's been so amazing to watch these kids develop their artistic skills over the past two years. I feel so lucky to be their teacher and to introduce them to the fantastic world of art! The art supplies that I have requested for my students will allow each student to paint at their desks with the table top easels. I have bought 19 of them myself when they have intermittengly gone on sale, but having a class set of 40 will allow every student in each of my 19 classes to have individual access and will make them feel like a true artist! The canvas pack will go to a winning class to create a school art display that will beautify our school campus while displaying the Pop art projects. The new paint, watercolor sets and brushes would be so awesome; the kids would love having new sets that have each of the colors brand new and available! Also, the brushes, oil pastels and watercolor paper would be used by the 3rd, 4th and 5th graders as they create their desert landscapes inspired by the Southwest and the Navajo folktale "Coyote Places the Stars."
