My focus is to get kids reading and enjoying it. They need access to all types of novels. Giving students the opportunity to choose what book to read empowers them and encourages them to keep reading. In 3rd grade, reading is either viewed as a job or a chore. I want my students to want to read every single day. By giving them the opportunity to choose their own books I am hoping to get them excited about reading. I want to develop a love of reading in my classroom that extends into the lives of my students wherever they are.
