I teach English classes at Shaw High School in Shaw, MS. Shaw is one of the most special places in the Mississippi Delta. Our students are some of the highest performing in the state - earning a "B" distinction for the 2017-18 school year. My students are many things. They are ambitious - setting their sights on the Ivy League, the NBA, and the professional music world. They are hilarious, energetic, and trying to find their way in the world. They are also teenagers, with all the drama, emotion, and big life choices that can come with that. My classroom focuses on a combination of things. We have a classroom library of some 2000 volumes, with a focus on finding independent reading resources for all students. We read stories, plays, poems, and novels. We also focus on writing - including both personal writings and analytical writings. I am so grateful for my students and my room, and am grateful for your help!
