Students who love math are students who get to explore and discover math for themselves. These are games and activities that will have them both practicing what they already know and reinforcing their skill, and using what they know to discover new things and more complex math practices. I decided on math puzzles at varying levels because they are self-correcting and will help my students practice what they already know. The Discovery Kits are for geometry and place value where my students will be taking what they know to solve things they don't know yet. My students enjoy the challenge of trying new things and these will help them to think outside of the box making their knowledge of every day math deeper. In addition I have added some STEM (engineering and math) kits to push those students who want to go even deeper with the challenges. I'm looking forward to seeing what my little engineers come up with this year and creating a classroom that sees math as more than just math facts an worksheets!
