The students on my caseload are working on a variety of language and pre-literacy goals. Their goals include basic concepts, vocabulary development, ability to follow directions, attending to stories, and much more. Many of my student have Autism or other developmental delays and therefore benefit from the use of 3D objects to manipulate during story and language time to work on their goals as pictures are not as concrete and many do not understand picture representation. Manipulating objects during story and language time will help them to better understand the concepts that I am trying to teach.
The Lakeshore Storytelling Kits include a variety of well known stories and props to go along with each for students to manipulate to work on a variety of goals. Having these kits will help my students to better understand stories while also working on each students individual goals.
