By donating to this project, you will be providing the help needed so we can have iPads in the classroom. Having these iPads will provide my students with plenty of exposure to various types of learning formats and lessons.
These iPads will allow my students to grow both academically and social-emotionally. The math apps the students will use reinforce almost all of the Nevada Academic Content Standards for Math. Specifically the following math standards:
K.CC.A.1 Count to 100 by ones and tens.
K.CC.A.3 Write numbers from 0 to 20 and use objects to show numbers 0 to 20 (e.g., Number 5 equals 5 apples).
K.CC.B.4 Counts to tell the number of objects.
K.OA.A Demonstrate addition as putting together and adding to and subtraction as taking apart and taking from.
K.NBT.A Work with numbers 11-19 to demonstrate place value.
For the ELA apps that we would use on the iPads, they are aligned with the following standards:
RF.K.1 Recognize the organization of print, including following words from left to right and recognizing and naming all upper-and lower-case letters of the alphabet.
RF.K.4 Read books with purpose and understanding.
RL.K.1 Ask and answers questions about fictional texts with prompting and support.
RI.K.1 Ask and answer questions about nonfiction texts.
This project also allows my students to use apps geared toward social emotional learning. Many students that would have gone to preschool weren't able to due to Covid-19. I am seeing many students not capable of following simple 1-2 step directions. The apps on the iPads will help with these skills. I am eager to help my students grow both social-emotionally and academically.
