In my classroom, we gather together on the carpet throughout the day. We come together for story time, lessons, check-ins, and talks. I currently have a very ratty, dingy carpet for students to sit on. The carpet I am wishing for has 30 individual squares, which would provide each student with a designated space to go to throughout the day. It will give each child a sense of comfort and personal space; a very visual boundary to remind them to keep their hands and feet to self. Having a comfortable space will allow them to focus their attention on learning.
