As a school with no budget for arts or extra clubs our students often don't have outlets for their struggles or creativity. Art is a beautiful way to turn the difficulties of their lives into something tangible and constructive.
In order to truly develop their skills in art and drawing, a sketchbook is necessary. I'm requesting Soho Basic black cover sketchbooks. With these sketchbooks my artists can track growth, put in their exercises, research other artists, experiment with new mediums/techniques, and develop larger projects in their sketchbooks.
Students will have the opportunity to hone their craft while also participating in meaningful reflection if they are able to keep personal sketchbooks. In addition, they will have the opportunity to grow in their knowledge of the art world by being exposed to and be able to experiment with different mediums. The pressed charcoal will be used to explore lights and darks, while the pastels will be used for color theory and value studies. In addition, the bristol paper will be used for final projects due to its versatility.
