Space is limited in our classroom. These Reading Boats (storage totes) will serve as a place students can go and get into in order to read independently. It will give students a place to focus on reading. I give students freedom to choose between the three Daily 3 activities, one of which is Read to Self, instead of traditional workstations, and these Reading Boats will ensure students choose Read to Self because they will be excited about their personalized Reading Boat! It is imperative that students learn to love to read early in order to continue reading growth as they move on.

About my class
