My kindergarten through fifth grade students love hearing stories about artist, art concepts, and techniques. You should see their eyes light up when I start a lesson with a children's book. The chapters help bring to learning life for the children. They engage not only my general education students but those in our two-way immersion classroom, who sometimes have limited English, as well as my students in self contained special needs classroom. They treasure the books and will refer back to them when discussing what we are working on with their peers, or teachers. I also love seeing the students go back after completing a project to read about from their favorite if they finish earlier than their classmates.
