In my second grade class, we are learning about plant and animal life cycles. I teach science by incorporating the 5 E's which include engage, explore, explain, elaborate, and evaluate. First, my students will assist in setting up animal habitats to watch life cycles. Next, my students will observe the animals and record observations in their science journals. Then, using the textbook in conjunction with the long term investigation, my students will learn about the life cycles of frogs, butterflies, and beetles. Last, my students will become experts on animals and their life cycles.
