I am trying to get additional seats for my classroom. By roviding different types of seats will help increase the learning of many of my students. Allowing them to move around and choose seats that are more comfortable for them will help them focus. The will be able to consentrate more on the tasks they are working on.
Books are such an important part of learning. Too many students these days are relying on technology and not actual books. I have weekly lessons based on 1 book that is working on different skills, from being a good friend to learning about the life cycle of apples, pumpkins and different animals. I am needing a different variety of books for our Read Alouds. These books will go along with our Reading units that are teaching my students different skills needed for reading and writing. I will read these books to the students and then do follow up activities to make sure they understood and comprehended the story. Some of the different activites include using pictures to retell the story, pictures cards to review the setting, characters and plot. There are also writing prompts that the students will use during writing time to tell me their favorite part or character. By getting these additional books I will be able to introduce different types of stories teaching them different skills.
