I chose Apple iPad's for my project to increase my students motivation, independence, communication, and academics. Many of my students have trouble staying motivated and by bringing in technology it can increase their motivation for school and puts the fun in learning. There are some applications that my students may find that they are learning with, but it doesn't even seem like work.
Typical computers are not successful with my students as many of them receive occupational therapy services and are unable to manipulate a mouse. iPads provide a friendly way to introduce technology to my students in a way accessible to them. They can also be used to increase independence in my students as we can use them for timers, individual visual schedules, communication devices, or for independent work.
