"Time for Kids" is such a great resource in the classroom for access to non-fiction text. The articles are relevant, current, and are high interest to children. Reading and comprehending non-fiction is a life skill and often the key to creating excitement for reluctant readers. My students are fortunate enough to have excellent access to technology, so this would be a well used resource in our classroom. Reading nonfiction text allows for a unique opportunity to create ownership of learning. Students are able to investigate topics of interest to them, as well as create a dialogue about what is new or fascinating to them.
