I am asking for some alternative seating options for students in my classroom. Specifically, I am asking for four large bean bag chairs and two fidget chairs for my students. The bean bag chairs will be used in a separate corner of my room for small group work, a place to take a break when students feel overwhelmed, and a place to relax when done with classwork, and a place that can be used as a quiet spot when needed. The fidget chairs will support students with ADHD by enabling them to shift comfortably and quietly in these chairs so they can concentrate better while distracting others less.
The truth is, many of my students do not have spaces outside of school that are safe and comfortable. My students face a myriad of additional factors outside of school that impact their learning. I believe this alternative seating can provide a more welcoming and inviting environment in my classroom that is a change from the rows of desks that my students have sat in for most of their school experience. Thank you so much for considering!
