The "Drums 101" club I am starting this year is part of a new way that my school is making sure every student gets an opportunity to be exposed to an art form that they normally do not have access to.
Since many of the students that attend our school have a difficult time affording day-to-day supplies that are necessary in class, I knew I would need to provide an avenue in which the students could learn the drums in an authentic way without assistance from home. With these drum kits, they can learn what each drum is called, what they sound like and begin learning the basics of being a drummer.
Since there is not much storage in my classroom, these portable kits make it a breeze to give students a more authentic learning experience. With a club size of 15 students, 5 kits will allow them to learn at various paces, get feedback from their peers and build community by learning in groups.
