This year, the speech department has launched an innovative, multi-media approach to learning language. We utilize a series of 20 core vocabulary words, a set of correlating books and an engaging puppet named Bebo. Our students are exploring how to communicate their thoughts using the words "like, play, want, wait, more, done, stop, go, etc.". These bright colorful children's books help to reinforce the words that we are teaching by creating generalization of key elements. Teachers will be able to check out these books from the speech room to use in the classroom. This gives the students the opportunity to use their core words in different settings.
