My classroom is a place for all kids, no matter where they come from. I teach students in English and Home Economics in grades 7-11, but I also provide for them an environment where it's okay to be who they are. We achieve great things academically- I incorporate STEM and current events and a blended learning model with technology and traditional best practices- but if a student doesn't leave my room feeling more capable of handling the world than when he or she walked in, I haven't done them any favors. My students are brilliant and kind and caring and anxious and perfectionistic and quirky and awesome, and together we will accomplish amazing things.
