Much time in our classroom is spent writing. During this writing process, which happens in language, reading, science and social studies, even math, we are continually editing our work and applying the skills we have learned and implementing new ones, and writing, writing, writing. While we are working, there is only one of me to give them the one on one they need.
The donation for this project will give our classroom a fun way to not feel the need to "stand and wait" and instead take a number, go back to their desk and use the time more efficiently on something more productive.
Then, while they are waiting for their number to pop up, they can work with a partner, finish work that hasn't been completed, or even read! Students can then focus on keeping on task and not just playing the "stand and wait for teacher attention" game, which leads to a lot of wasted time. I look forward to a more efficient way to help with this process in our classroom, and not the constant need to monitor whose turn, who is in/out of line, and who needs to meet next. The clarity will be very helpful to not only me, but also my students.
