I teach 5th grade ELA and SS to students who mostly come from lower socioeconomic backgrounds where resources are slim to none. Our school is a Title 1 school and every student meet the recommendations for free lunch. Most of my students are also raised in a single parent household which means that most of my students are either raising themselves or helping to raise some of their siblings while their parents go to work to make ends meet. Although my students lacks the skills and resources needed to be successful, my students are strong willed and they work hard every day to overcome any obstacle that they are faced with. They are happy, and full of life. My students are excited about learning new things each day. My students rarely ask for anything and they are very grateful and appreciative of anything that is given to them. My students are my pride and joy. They make everyday that I come to work enjoyable.
