These hands-on and visual materials will allow me to teach language Development skills in my classroom. My students rely on materials that are visual and will encourage them to use listening skills. With these materials, I can focus on visual phonics, vocabulary, auditory training, grammar and pragmatics.
I will use the materials in a large group, small group, centers and 1:1 settings for multiple exposure opportunities. I chose materials such as, a circle time learning chart, all about letters chart, category sorting and story telling puppets which will allow me to model language for my students and allow the students to use communication with a visual to assist them. I also chose materials such as cvc word work centers, beginning sounds phonemic box, building simple words, and alphabet ready to go pack to help students develop phonemic awareness in their language and so we can use visual phonics with their vocabulary and to help with the pragmatic/articulation piece of their speech.
My students will receive explicit instruction that will allow for repetition and modifications from these materials. They can also be used and displayed around the room as a visual reminder for students to reference. They will also be engaging and draw in the interest of the students!
