My students are energetic and excited to learn! Our school is located in an urban area and many of my students come from low-income households. Violence is a norm in the community that surrounds our school. For many, school is a safe haven from their high-poverty, high-stress lives outside of school. Students cherish their time in the calm, safe, caring environment they find in school. My students are passionate, compassionate, and excited to be leaders in our school environment. They are enthusiastic and support one another, cheering one another on as they meet success. Many of my students have few practical day to day life experiences outside of school so allowing them these centers for literacy play will enhance both their literacy skills and their practice of life skills.
