My students come from a variety of different economic and cultural backgrounds. In my classroom alone, students speak a multitude of languages including Urdu, Bengali, Mandarin, Chinese, Pashto, Polish, and Arabic. As diverse as our students are economically and culturally, they are diverse in their academic needs as well. We are a self- contained, ENL (english as a new language) classroom, made of the most eager and wide-eyed 5 year olds
