My students love to sit on the rugs or rather, anywhere other than their desks. My students helped to decide what they would like to sit on and they requested some colorful stools to move around the room and even take back to their seat instead of their chair.
Flexible seating options allow students to take control of their own situation and learning. The Donut Chairs that are requested are great for posture and the students can use them anywhere in the room! They like to read in the classroom library, but they sit on the floor right now. They will be able to move these to the library to read silently.
In addition, my students also requested a some comfy rugs. The rug we currently have is raggedy and torn. There is not much padding left so students do not like to sit on it. These flexible seating options will also be great for special needs students who have sensory issues and need to be out of their chair.
