My students who are kinesthetic learners need flexible seating options that complement their learning styles. When provided with these options in multiple classrooms, my students find it easier to concentrate, and are more easily able to fully participate in class.
Wobble chairs, cushions and resistance bands all provide ways for my students to quietly get their "wiggles" out in the classroom, leading to increased engagement and overall time on-task and learning. Wobble chairs allow students to remain seated, but move around without creating additional noise or distractions. Chair cushions mimic the movement and shape of an exercise ball and discourages fidgeting, again providing an opportunity for my students participate fully in classroom activities. Resistance bands, wrapped around the students' chair legs, offer a place for students to rest or bounce their legs in a quiet manner. Having these various options available levels the "playing field" for my students and helps them remain in class successfully.
