How many times have you found a book that you've wanted to read over and over again because it was just THAT good? Reading is one of the most important skills that will impact a child's education. High interest books in the classroom are one way to get children to read and to become lifelong readers.
Many of my students do not have access to books at home and thus rarely engage in reading at home. School is the only place that many of my students are in contact with high quality books. For this reason, it is very important that I continue to stock my library with high quality books that my students will find engaging. By providing books that my spark my students' interests, I am able to support their literacy development and overall success in school.
Many of the books I have selected are written with high quality and also teach students to build upon their character skills, including respect, kindness, and empathy. These books will help me provide a learning environment that is centered around reading and provide my students with opportunities to learn about themselves and to grow as individuals.
