Once a year, we host a Diversity Camp called "Bruintown." We discuss heavy topics such as religion, race, sexual preference, prejudice, and equality. About 120 students leave their homes for a 4 day trip to immerse themselves in the topics.
The Bruintown goal is to gain a better understanding and appreciation for all people. The supplies we are requesting will help students visualize, analyze, and communicate the subjects discussed in camp. By providing water bottles our hope is that students will stay hydrated and avoid headaches during their time outdoors in higher elevation. In addition, a projector and screen provide our students the opportunity to visually see the topics we are covering. This allows for visual learners to reinforce what we are practicing in our workshops. Finally, our medical supplies will provide safety for our students at multiple locations at camp. All supplies are necessary to make camp a success. We want the information presented to the students is brought back home to make a change in our school and our community without any gaps in their ability to learn and create their own personal toolkit.
The students attending camp are dedicated to their education, their families, and their school, and we hope you can help them feel proud to make a positive change in the world.
