I am requesting Chromebooks for my classroom. The purpose of this project is to implement technology into my classroom on a daily basis. Technology needs to be integrated in our classrooms daily and as frequently as possible. There are many sites that students can use to research, improve fluency (in reading and in math), go deeper with concepts being taught, and have fun with learning.
Technology is like water- it is all around us- I can either help my students learn to swim or watch them drown.
I choose to help them swim and guide them through the world that is completely technology driven.
Last year, I tried to implement technology in my classroom as much as I could. I saw huge improvements in my students' reading fluency and comprehension skills due to a website called Epic Books. I also saw their love of reading go up. Students were asking me, daily, if they could read books. They had found book series and collections on this site that caused them to want to read more and more. It was wonderful seeing them fall in love with reading and be able to tell me all about their books.
If I were able to have more Chromebooks in my classroom, then I could completely utilize them each and every day.
