Do you remember your cubbies from pre-K? Did it have your name on it? Or did it have fun stuff in it? Cubby storage units with plastic bins are very helpful to keep students supplies, materials, and sensory toys organized. In the bins, students will find all different kind of sensory objects. These bins and the sensory objects will be used to reinforce my counseling lessons when students are in my classroom. Imagine a 3 or 4 year old student coming to see me because they are sad, angry, or scared. If they have easy access to these bins full of sensory toys such as play dough, small balls, fidget toys etc. students would have the choice to pick a bin that would help them to calm down faster.
