I chose these specific materials based on the needs of my students. Having items such as Swirling Glitter Sensory Balls, a Sensory Disc Set, and even Yoga Mats will give them more options of relief when in our "sensory room".
I will use these new materials to set up additional stations to support the ability to calm down, focus, learn -- and self-regulate. As a teacher, I observe that when children move during a sensory break, there are fewer behavior problems in class.
Students have scheduled breaks in the sensory room each day to help reduce stress and learn coping skills.
