So many of our students come from homes that are barely making it. Simple technology, like a calculator, is many times a luxury that many do not have.
I want all of my students to be able to work on projects that require calculations from density of matter to finding out the altitude of the rocket they just launched. Basic tools, like a calculator, are something we take for granted. Having a set of calculators in the classroom at all times makes learning easier.
Many areas of my curriculum require simple calculations, and these students need this simple tool to succeed.
