I currently teach middle school engineering in a high poverty area. As my students prepare for competitions, one very important piece that we lack are the presentation skills needed to present our ideas to the judges and parents watching.
We currently have an old laptop that sometimes does not work, and it would be great if we had a new one with our own external hard drive, projector, and presentation remote. My students have a willingness to learn and participate, but sometimes it becomes discouraging when they do not have all the supplies needed to be successful in competitions.
I admire their tenacity and strength to keep going even when things look dim because they are very bright students and want to be successful in their general education and beyond.
