I am a grade 9-12 media specialist in a high school in Montgomery, Alabama. The school has a student population of 1,550. This Title 1 school is predominantly African-American, with most of the students on free or reduced lunch status. The school is located in the midst of several of Montgomery's most economically challenged neighborhoods, and because of this factor, many of our students come to school deprived, weary, and uncertain about the future.
