Stringed instruments such as violins, violas, cellos, and basses are notoriously hard to tune due to the friction peg mechanics of the instruments and the careful listening that can sometimes take years to develop. I have found that clip-on tuners are extremely effective tools for my junior high students who are learning to carefully tune their own instruments. I'm seeking help in obtaining a classroom set of tuners that students can have easy access to. Additionally, clip-on tuners are effective intonation checkers for checking musical pitch as individuals and collectively.
